It’s the little things. My photographic interests lie in the quiet places, the intimate places in our natural world. I enjoy those places and carrying a camera there helps achieve more active seeing, a different experience than simply walking in the woods or wetlands (although I enjoy that too). I approach photography in these places with artistic intent.
I’ve been photographing for decades but the advent of digital photography twenty years or so ago opened up a way I could make color photo prints entirely on my own from capture to a final print, rendering an image on paper from vision in the landscape. That was a game changer. I’m an amateur photographer, meaning I do it for love and enjoyment, but it is nevertheless a serious practice.
I live in Sebastopol, California, and frequent arid lands, redwood forests, foggy places, and a beautiful wetland 10 minutes from my home.
